KARIM BENZEMA ARRESTED OVER SEXTAPE

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been arrested by police in France over his alleged involvement in a blackmail attempt on fellow France star, Mathieu Valbuena. Karim Benzema arrested over sextape

Benzema was reportedly placed in custody at a police station in Versailles in the same case that also saw former French striker Djibril Cisse arrested.

Benzema is now formally under a criminal investigation, but his lawyers are yet to make an official statement.

31-year old Valbuena, who plays for French side Olympique Lyon was reportedly asked for money if he didnt want his sex tape published.

Cisse, who had been released earlier, had denied any involvement in the scandal.

I have nothing to do with it, Mathieu is a friend of mine, Cisse said during an interview.
